Merkel Indoor Swimming Pool

In recent years, the Merkel Indoor Swimming Pool in Esslingen has been transformed into an "oasis for the senses." In the centre of Esslingen’s historical Old Town you will be enchanted by the most beautiful Art Nouveau indoor swimming pool far and wide.

Since 2006, the listed Art Nouveau building in the centre of the historical Old Town has shone it its former splendour and offers a very special highlight: spring-fresh mineral thermal water invites you to take a cultivated swim at a water temperature of 34 degrees Celsius.

"Sodium calcium chloride sulphate mineral thermal acidulous water" is the technical term for the precious water that bubbles out of the ground from a depth of 200 metres - and is heated from 30 degrees to 34 degrees Celsius. The special mix regenerates and vitalises. One’s skin becomes soft, one’s blood circulation is mobilised and one’s muscles relaxed.

The Merkel Indoor Swimming Pool is equipped with a sports pool, a large sauna area, and a private therapy centre with medicinal baths and massage rooms. It offers visitors sheer relaxation on two floors with a variety of saunas, steam baths and thousands-of-years-old healing methods for deep relaxation: everyone will find their balance here.

Join the fun: the sports pool for the whole family

On the one hand, pure Art Nouveau architecture, on the other, the modern indoor swimming pool with its large sports pool in the style of the 1960s. With everything that goes with it: six 25-metre swim lanes, a diving area with 1-metre diving boards, a 3-metre diving board and a 5-metre platform. This is where sporty swimmers can really enjoy life to the full. Attractive eye-catcher in trendy retro style: the concrete relief of the gallery and the elaborately designed end wall of the hall. One floor below, the beginners’ pool offers families with children great swimming fun at the weekend.

The sauna area of the Merkel Indoor Swimming Pool – balm for the soul

Why not book a Rasul treatment in the steam grotto and let yourself be wrapped in warm healing earth. This Arabic care and healing ceremony has been used for thousands of years to cleanse and strengthen the body. Various healing clays are gently massaged into the skin. The healing ingredients penetrate the skin to the accompaniment of soft sounds, aromatic fragrances and slowly rising temperatures. Then relax in the tepidarium - and you can return to everyday life gently invigorated.
